International visitors to Viet Nam in January 2023 reached over 871,000, an increase of 23.2 percent compared to December 2022 and 44.2 times higher than the same period last year.

South Korea was Viet Nam's largest tourist source market, with an estimated 258,946 arrivals. Coming in second was the US, with an estimated 77,897 arrivals. Thailand was Viet Nam's third largest source of international visitors, with an estimated 54,985 arrivals. The number of visitors from China was estimated at 15,875.
International visitors to Viet Nam by air accounted for the majority with 91.9 percent; by road - 7.5 percent and by sea - 0.6 percent.
According to official statistics, tourism revenue in January 2023 was estimated at VND2,200 billion, up 113.4 percent over the same period last year.
From January 21 to January 26, localities across the country reported a sharp increase in the number of international visitors compared to the same period last year.
Travel experts worldwide forecasted that 2023 would see strong growth in international travel demand. Therefore VNAT and related agencies will actively conduct promotional activities throughout the year, such as participating in international events and promoting national tourism on major media channels in 2023.
