Minh Long, Minh Phat, Long Hau - Bright Spots in the Vietnamese Ceramic and Porcelain Industry

Ceramic and Porcelain are traditional products of the Vietnamese people with a history of hundreds of years of development. According to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the production of fine art ceramics has a scale of up to 5,400 craft villages and is spread across the country. Of these, nearly 2,000 are traditional craft villages with 115 recognized crafts.

With a manual production process and high aesthetics, ceramic and porcelain products often have a strong national cultural identity. This helps Vietnamese ceramics to be highly appreciated in the international market and opens up huge opportunities for businesses to export Vietnamese products to global markets, especially Japan and the US, EU, and more.

According to recent statistics, Vietnam ranks 3rd (after China and Thailand) among the markets supplying fine ceramics to the EU, with a growth rate in the period 2016 - 2021, achieving 7.6% per year. For the US market, the demand for importing fine art ceramics is very large. However, ceramic and porcelain imports from the Vietnamese market are not many, so this will be a great opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to boost exports to this market.

Along with that are difficulties in understanding needs and finding international partners. In addition, the advancement of science and technology and policies issued by the state to support, restore, and develop traditional craft villages, have helped improve product quality and create favorable conditions for the future development of this industry.
