The number of poultry in Vietnam is steadily growing. In the first 9 months of 2023, the nationwide poultry population exceeded 533 million individuals. As a result, the production of poultry and eggs to meet both consumer demand and industrial needs has been ensured. The total poultry egg production in 2023 reached 19.2 billion eggs, marking a growth rate of 5.2% compared to the previous year.
Prominent brands in the poultry egg market
Currently, Vietnamese fresh eggs and egg products (such as salted eggs and egg powder) have penetrated several markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, Brunei, the Middle East, Africa, and most recently, Japan.
Despite considerable growth in the export volume, most of the eggs produced by the poultry industry are still consumed within the country. Although up until September, domestic egg prices have shown a downward trend, the final months of 2023 and the approaching Lunar New Year have exhibited signs of a promising market recovery. According to the announcement by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance regarding price trends in January 2024, various types of eggs increased 0.08% compared to the previous month.
Alongside the upward trajectory of prices, domestic egg consumption has also significantly grown. According to market analysis and forecasts conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the total egg consumption in the first 9 months of 2023 surpassed 14 billion eggs (averaging over 1.5 billion eggs per month). This figure encompasses both consumer demand and the requirements from processing industries, notably the burgeoning confectionery and processed food sectors within the country.
Therefore, the Vietnamese poultry egg market is witnessing numerous promising development opportunities. Renowned enterprises such as Ba Huan, QL, TAFA VIỆT, Hoa Phat, Vinh Thanh Đat, alongside many other business entities, are increasingly engaging in active operations, intensifying the competition in the market.

Profit after tax of some businesses in the poultry egg market
Thus, the poultry egg market holds significant potential for development, especially during periods of strong growth in the processing industry. Despite export volumes falling short of expectations, the domestic purchasing power within the poultry egg sector remains promising. Revenue for prominent enterprises is trending upwards. However, profit margins have seen a noticeable decline, attributed to various factors including production costs and management processes.
