Vietnam is becoming an attractive destination for Asian logistics activities

With the growth rate of import-export and e-commerce always at a double-digit rate, Vietnam is becoming an attractive destination for logistics activities in the Asia-Pacific region.


On July 15, the Vietnam Logistics Association (VLA) opened the Asia-Pacific Annual Federation of International Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) Meeting.


The event attracted nearly 300 international logistics enterprises who are logistics service providers from 50 countries in the Asia-Pacific region and businesses interested in seeking opportunities for cooperation and logistics development in this region.



Speaking at this plenary session, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that with its special geopolitical position, it is located in a dynamic development area of ​​the world, where the flow of goods is concentrated and exchanges are strong. Along with deepening integration with the global economy, Vietnam is becoming an attractive destination for logistics activities in the Asia-Pacific region.


According to the World Bank Report published in 2023, Vietnam ranks 43rd in the efficiency index ranking, among the top 5 ASEAN countries, after Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, and in the same position as the Philippines.


The average annual growth rate of Vietnam's logistics market is 14-16%, making an important contribution to bringing Vietnam's total import and export turnover in 2022 to 730.2 billion USD, up 9.1% compared to the same period in 2021.


Logistics services not only make an important contribution to Vietnam's economic development but also play an important role in creating an efficient transportation network, connecting domestic trade with international markets.


"In the context that the logistics service industry is facing many unpredictable changes and the development of science and technology, the trend of globalization is opening up many new opportunities along with challenges for the logistics industry. This time is a valuable opportunity for associations, logistics, and import-export service enterprises of Vietnam and other countries in the region to meet, exchange business cooperation opportunities as well as share experiences. Developing logistics services opens up opportunities to promote import and export and improve competitiveness for businesses.

In addition to important agendas, many side activities were organized within the time frame of the event to connect domestic and foreign business exchanges such as B2B among more than 100 businesses on the afternoon of July 13, many cooperation between enterprises. Enterprises have been committed, to creating development opportunities for logistics enterprises in the Asia-Pacific region.
