SUMMARY
In July, the demand for fertilizers was low, both for exports and domestic sales. Domestic sales slowed down towards the end of the month as tending activities for the summer-autumn rice crop were completed in most regions. Only in the northern region, where provinces are still in the process of planting winter-spring rice, did tending activities continue into August.
For exports, the volume shipped in July decreased by nearly 24% compared to the previous month and is at a low level compared to the same period last year. Weak demand was primarily seen in smaller markets. However, a positive note is that the average export price in July increased by nearly 20% compared to June and rose by 10% compared to the end of 2023 (a more positive increase than domestic selling prices).
Outlook: Although the overall business situation in the sector remains positive, domestic sales in August and the first half of September are expected to be slow before entering the new planting season in the Mekong Delta.
