[VI] FERTILIZER INDUSTRY REPORT - SEPTEMBER 2024

SUMMARY

In August, demand continued to be weak, both for exports and domestic sales. Domestic sales slowed down due to the upcoming harvest of the summer-autumn rice crop in the Mekong Delta, which is a low point for fertilizer consumption. Export volume in the month was only approximately equal to the previous month and decreased by nearly 17% compared to the same period last year. Export sales of many large enterprises decreased significantly compared to the same period.

Due to slow consumption, domestic fertilizer brands continued to adjust their prices in early September. Domestic production also decreased compared to July and decreased for all types of fertilizers. In addition, one of the reasons was that the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant (DCM) carried out a general overhaul of the entire plant from August 16 to August 30, 2024. However, the amount of imported fertilizers still increased compared to the previous month (especially NPK).
