SUMMARY
 
World: In 2023, the world's natural rubber supply is estimated to reach 15.15 million tons, up 3.5% over the same period. Meanwhile, demand decreased by 0.5% over the same period, making it difficult for most natural rubber exporting countries. Natural rubber export volume (HS4001) of Thailand decreased by 17%, Indonesia by 15%, and Malaysia by 8% over the same period.
 
Vietnam: Vietnam's rubber harvest area and output in 2023 will decrease by 1.1% and 3.4% respectively over the same period. Domestic rubber prices also closely follow the increase/decrease of world rubber prices.
 
The entire Vietnamese rubber industry is generally not favorable, both exports and domestic consumption are weak, and the average export/selling price decreased by 12.7% over the same period. Most large enterprises in the industry recorded a decrease in revenue and profits of 9-22% over the same period. Gross profit margin and net profit margin also decreased compared to 2022.
 
Outlook: World demand for natural rubber is forecast to continue to be weak, in the context of a difficult world economy and impact on global automobile consumption. Vietnam's rubber industry may be more positive in 2023 thanks to expectations of rising prices. But even so, the level of recovery is difficult to break out when world demand for natural rubber is forecast to remain weak.
