SUMMARY
In the first six months of the year, the Vietnamese rubber industry benefited from favorable global rubber prices. The average export price increased by 11.3% compared to the same period last year (amidst a backdrop where rubber prices on many Asian exchanges sometimes rose over 40% compared to the end of the previous year, before decreasing again in June). The total export value of the industry rose nearly 6% compared to the same period last year.
However, it is noteworthy that export volume unexpectedly dropped sharply in Q2 compared to the same period last year, following the positive results of Q1. The main reason was a 30% decrease in export volume to China in Q2. China reduced its rubber imports from various markets (not just Vietnam) due to a decline in demand for rubber in the tire manufacturing industry.
