SUMMARY
In Q3/2023, production and consumption both improved. Inventories are gradually decreasing, but many difficulties still remain. Among them, the most active is the fiber and textile production sector. Fiber export output in Q3 increased by 6% compared to the previous quarter and increased by 38.2% over the same period.
The garment group also has positive signals. Export value in July and August reached the highest level in the past year. The shoe leather group improved but not significantly. The cumulative consumption index of leather and leather products in the first 3 quarters of the year still decreased by 10.7% over the same period.
Cumulatively in 3Q/2023, the industry's export value reached $47.8 billion, still down 15.4% over the same period. The Textile, Garment, and footwear trade surplus reached $30 billion (down 14% over the same period).
According to Vietdata, the recovery ability of major markets is still precarious and uncertain. Exports to the entire industry in general and to the EU in particular will face more challenges in the coming time. Besides, exporting textiles and garments to China also faces more challenges with Order No. 259 recently issued.
